Who is Jenni X?

Jenni X is a handle chosen years ago. It was a nod (of course) to Malcolm X, computer mentor BrianX, and sometimes used with the emphasis on the "nix", keeping in tune with interests in *nix systems, as well as others.

Professional

JenniX runs a small computer consulting operation in Los Angeles. Past work experience ranges from "everything you can do in a restaurant except actually owning it" to a 10 year stint touring the world as a audio mixing engineer to a 10 year stretch in corporate America during the dot com age.

Interests

JenniX is a competitive skater and cyclist, and enjoys building - in no particular order - bikes, skates, computers and numerous other complicated machines. She also enjoys flashing lights and small, shiny objects.




	geekchick.biz is my one-woman consulting firm in Los Angeles. I perform in-home repairs, serve as the out-sourced IT department for several local business, and I do phone and email support when people with less involved issues contact me for help. I have been involved with computers since the 70's. While I claim no certifications, degrees or affiliations which particularly qualify me for this work, I have found that technically speaking my skills are head-and-shoulders above the usual array of technicians that any major, "brand name" competing service would dispatch on a service call. While my childhood was spent cobbling together radios and televisions from spare parts found in my grandfather's HAM shack, my corporate time was split between managing hardware development & procurement, and managing the support & broadband provisioning services for the only major non-carrier ISP in the USA. I am quite happy to be running Geekchick.biz, and all my other ventures, as what I consider to be "green", socially-responsible businesses. I try to never use a car if I can avoid it, defaulting to my bicycle as my primary mode of transportation. I actively discourage customers from "upgrading" their computer systems without good reason, and I provide legal recycling for those who have electronic wastes to dispose. Most of all, I try to always remember that profit is NEVER an acceptable justification, rationalization nor even excuse for businesses that act in an immoral, albeit legal, manner. Generally speaking I provide inexpensive service of high quality, although sometimes I adjust my billing practices to fit particular clients needs. My business is almost entirely driven by word-of-mouth referrals. I provide references on request. Everybody, no matter how smart, rich or powerful they are - everybody needs the GeekChick.





	Extra Office Imagine... a quiet place to work. You simply walk in, sit down and start working. You don’t have to stop talking or hold your breath while the bus passes. Nobody looks over your shoulder or asks you questions. You cannot overhear the barista frothing two-percent or Miss "double-half-caff" dissect the recent weather. There is no music playing. If your phone did ring, you could hear it. You could even talk on it, in a normal voice. If you walked away from your laptop, it would wait for you to come back. This place does not need cleaning up. And now neither does your mind…. There are obvious benefits to working from home—but sometimes separating work from home is good too. Functional, preconfigured and supported software and hardware. The Bowler - (varies depending on where are, call for details) - we guide you from your hotel/domicile to the Hollywood Bowl (and back afterwards). Includes tickets, wine & cheese at the show.

We guide rides for any skill level. We can show you the sights in LA, or we can go for a workout in the mountains. If you're only visiting we can locate and prep a bike for you, even if you have very particular tastes. We can lead you on a 45-mile "Beach Skate" or we help you test that new mountain bike on the "Will Rogers Loop".
